Mission progression at a glance

Version 1.0 added a mission system through the Survivors’ Camp. The official release separates 15 Main Story missions, 45 Survivor missions, and 19 Repeatable missions or quests. A narrative mission can appear in the Camp’s Briefing Room after a run, while the Mission Log records progress and lets an incomplete mission be retried. These are the stable rules to use when a storyline appears to pause or arrive out of order.

Friendship increases end-of-run Cash and Specialization gains

The release says narrative threads expand in a somewhat random order. A missing next step is not, by itself, proof that a save is blocked. Start with the Mission Log and the current in-game text before repeating unrelated content. The log is the official place to check previous storyline events and any map or mode requirement for the next step.

Start at the Camp, not with a guessed route

The Camp is the hub introduced in Version 1.0, and the Briefing Room is where the official announcement places narrative missions. After a run, check the offered mission and read its stated objective before choosing an arena or mode. This keeps the run tied to a concrete task rather than a remembered community recommendation. The Camp also has a Quick Run option in the main menu, so players can enter combat directly when they are not handling between-run systems.

Do not turn the random presentation of story content into a fixed checklist. The official announcement explicitly says the order can vary, while also saying players should not get stuck because of that randomness. If the next objective is unclear, the Mission Log is a better source than repeating a favorite map until something changes. It tells you whether an unlock requirement is actually present.

Use the Mission Log as the progression check

The Mission Log has two confirmed jobs: review storyline progress and manually retry an incomplete quest. Use it before assuming a mission has been lost or must wait for another random offer. If the log states that a map or mode is needed, complete that exact prerequisite first. If it offers a retry, use that option instead of waiting for the mission to return after unrelated runs.

This is useful when several systems overlap. Bio Lab has its own Dead Terminal Default-mode unlock, while Boss Rush has a Hardcore completion requirement for each map. Neither rule should be substituted for a mission requirement unless the current Mission Log says so. Record exact wording and version whenever you publish a later walkthrough for a named mission.

Understand what Friendship does—and does not do

Completing a mission grants Friendship. The official release says Friendship permanently improves the Cash and Specialization awarded at the end of a run. It does not provide a value, a cap, or a claim that one mission type is always the fastest source. Those details should remain in the live interface or a retained test rather than being invented here.

Separate a mission run from a routine resource run when their goals conflict. A mission may ask for a particular arena, mode, or task, while a resource run may be about survival or experimentation. Giving the attempt one stated purpose makes it easier to see whether the objective was completed and what changed afterward. It also protects a progression note from becoming a vague play-more instruction.

Choose the correct mission category page

The three categories have different roles even though they share the same Camp system. Main Story missions follow the Survivors’ discovery of the virus source. Survivor missions are personal questlines that expose each character’s backstory through their own tasks. Repeatable missions are their own category and should not be mistaken for a fixed narrative sequence.

Use the related category record when you need release-level facts for one group. Keep specific objectives, rewards, failure conditions, and map restrictions versioned on their individual pages as those records are verified. This prevents the broad progression guide from duplicating every mission. It also gives players a reason to move from the overview to the exact dossier.

A reliable progression routine

  1. After a run, check the Briefing Room and read any offered mission in full.
  2. Open the Mission Log to confirm the previous step, current objective, and any stated map or mode prerequisite.
  3. Select one goal for the next run: mission completion, a map unlock, or a controlled system test.
  4. If a mission is incomplete, retry it through the Mission Log instead of waiting for a random repeat.
  5. Treat Friendship as a permanent end-of-run reward layer, not as proof of a hidden shortcut or exact multiplier.

The official material provides a strong progression loop without publishing every individual objective. This guide keeps known rules actionable and gives each unknown a clear place to be checked. That is more reliable than presenting a randomized storyline as a rigid route.
