Confirmed Version 1.0.0b behavior
The official Version 1.0.0b hotfix says that Mechanic’s Cooling Mods now applies its additional damage instance before the original instance of each weapon. It further explains that when the target is defeated in a single attack, that attack is now of Ice damage type. This is a sequence and classification correction. It does not publish a new damage total, duration, cooldown, or universal weapon ranking.
Keep the condition intact when quoting the patch: the Ice classification described by the note is tied to a target defeated in a single attack. Removing that condition would change the claim. The patch is precise, so the page must be precise too. Do not extrapolate a broad Ice-build conclusion from one timing fix.
Why order can matter
Damage type can affect an interaction even when a tooltip’s headline value does not change. The official note establishes that the additional instance now happens first and identifies the resulting Ice type in the stated kill condition. It does not explain every possible tag interaction or enemy outcome. Those need current, repeatable in-game evidence.
For a test, note the weapon, target, version, and whether the target is defeated by that one attack. Compare the current tooltip with the patch wording before adding a build note. This creates a useful record without inventing hidden formulas. It also makes later patch changes easier to review.
What this hotfix does not say
The supplied source does not give Cooling Mods’ current rank, owner description beyond Mechanic, damage values, upgrade branches, or synergy list. It does not state that every Mechanic build is stronger after 1.0.0b. A build page should keep those unknowns separate from the confirmed order change. “Ice damage type” is not the same as a complete elemental scaling guide.
If a later official note or current tooltip supplies more detail, add it as a separately versioned fact. Do not revise the 1.0.0b line into a claim it never made. This page is a model for patch-aware ability documentation: specific, source-linked, and narrow in scope.
